End of Summer 2026
September 29, 2026
I’m not going to say it but my last post was in April soooo….time to catch up. No apologies either because life is messy for almost all of us. With that said, here we go.
Two life changes: I have a new granddaughter (I think I told you about that) and I also gained a new daughter-in-law. Everything converged at the wedding and I got to hold my new grandchild as well as get a few hugs in from her brother. The wedding itself was beautiful and, after worrying about things all summer, it all turned out better than I expected. Except that it was 105 degrees that day but that’s August for ya.
Beauty: So you know I started back with Mary Kay in April and that is actually working out brilliantly! We (my consultant and I) figured out a routine that works and will only need minor tweaking at the seasonal changes. Their new foundation is a game changer – the color is a perfect match and it performs better than anything I’ve ever had (with the exception of a Clinique foundation they don’t make anymore). It is so nice to know what I’m going to do each morning and night and it just works. I’m feeling better about myself as well and that’s really saying something.
Health: I’ve actually lost a few pounds since April so I’m happy about that but I needed to get better about tracking meds and water so I started a notebook with check boxes so I can stay on board. OK that didn’t even last a month. I also bought a big-ass water bottle so I can fill it up and drink it through the day and see where I end up. Yeah, riiiight. I’m more of a routines person than a tracker. Obviously. All that said, I had a health scare and found out I’m actually healthier than I thought so I’ll keep trying to make better food choices, drink water, move more and (HA) stress less. That’s about all I can do right now and it’s enough.
Miscellaneous: I’ve put Stitch Fix on hold until December but even then I may give it up. While I have a few pieces I do love, I think I bought things I thought I’d like but they just haven’t worked out. Need to do something different. That said, I do have clothes and shoes to wear each day and, again, it’s enough.
I’m still reading and one of these days I’ll actually post about that. I finally finished my book journal (My Reading Life by Anne Bogel) and bought a new one as well. I read a few classics from Jr high and it was good to revisit them now that I’m (much) older. I also read the first five books of the Old Testament and read commentary for it as well. Glad to have done that! I’m back to reading the Gospels starting with Matthew and we’ll see after that.
There are some other serious things going on in my life but keeping that mum for now. Just hoping for a quick resolution.
OK so there you have it. We are finally having cooler weather after almost two months of August and it looks like some good rains heading our way this week as well. Bring it on!
Take care everyone and I’ll try to update sooner.
