February Five #28
February 28, 2015
Yes – I made it! So February Five ends today, but I’ve got a possible new plan for March. While I may not post every day, I do have a partial daily plan that would look something like this:
Sunday – Weekend Gallery – A picture or pictures like I used to do when I first started blogging.
Monday – Music Monday
Tuesday – ??
Wednesday – Wednesday Wisdom – Quotes, sayings, etc. that I have found helpful, humorous, or just something to think about.
Thursday – ??
Friday – Friday Finds – Things, blog posts, books, etc. that I like and want to pass it on.So, we’ll see how that works out. In the meantime the last February Five of 2015.
Saturday February 28
1. Since it was snowing all day I decided to catch up on household tasks that were begging for attention. Got it all done!
2. We ended up with around 3 or 4″ inches of snow – although it may have been more. It was a light snow that crunched underfoot.
3. Made a delicious supper of a pork stew with mashed potatoes to pour the stew over. It was pretty good for something I made up.
4. Tomorrow is the last episode of Downton Abbey for Season 5. I watched the Oscars last week and missed DA, so tonight I looked at the recap for last week so I’m at least kind of caught up. Things had better get resolved next season though – I think we all want the show to end on a grand, happy note.
5. Finished watching – Three Sovreigns For Sarah. -

Friday, February 27
1. A beautiful sunrise this morning – all pinks and purples and blues – despite the -1 wind chill.
2. A family made lunch of chocolate chip waffles. Yes, I do know it’s Lent, but we had a rough morning around here.
3. Went to the library – in the snow. Yes, we got more and more is expected tomorrow. Bleh.
4. A simple meal of manicotti and carrots. I only had one box of manicotti which meant only 7 could eat, so I went without as an extra penance.
5. Family Movie Night – Big Hero 6. -

Thursday, February 26
1. After enjoying nice weather, we are back in the deep freeze again.
2. Nothing like tea in the afternoon when it is cold. Luckily I have Tea and Cake With the Saints to help with tea time. It’s a lovely little book about teas, cooking, and crafts for mothers and daughters.
3. Saw the neighborhood cat in the backyard staring at all the birds flying through.
4. Bought this for the kids yesterday – they put it together right away.
5. Finally got my rosary unknotted so I can say my Chaplet of Divine Mercy as I do each night before going off to sleep. -

Five new books I bought that I’d wanted for awhile:
1. How To Speak, How To Listen by Mortimer Adler (because I am not the best on either of these things)
2. Living More With Less by Doris Janzen Longacre (because while I’m not crunchy, I do care about the earth and its people)
3. More With Less Cookbook by Doris Janzen Longacre (because I want to eat simpler meals and need new ideas)
4. Mama’s Vintage Remedies (because I want to take better care of my body)
5. Another Sort of Learning by James Schall (because I want to do a DIY college of sorts)and one more for the road:
6. Fashon For Dummies by Jill Martin (because at 52 I need direction)

Tuesday, February 24
Five used book finds:
1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (because my old copy is pretty beat up)
2. Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain (because we need it for school reading)
3. 50 Is the New Fifty by Suzanne Braun Levine (because I am needing help with this new decade I’ve entered)
4. More Book Lust by Nancy Pearl (because it’s always fun to look for new books which this book helps you with)
5. Beat Overeating Now by Scott Isaacs, M.D. (because this is a reasonable book with no weird diet plan – just common sense plus help understanding how your body works) -
February Five #23
Monday, February 23
1. After the roads kind of recovered from the snow Sunday, more snow fell this morning. It was a slippery drive taking Steve to work. Yes, I actually drove in the snow. Two days in a row!
2. Mike helped out with the driving in the afternoon, by which time most roads were clear. What??!!
3. Good housework day.
4. Showed Tree Change Dolls to the girls – thinking it could be a fun project for us to do too.
5. Need to finish and file the taxes – almost done. Don’t know why I’m dragging my feet on it this year. -

Saturday, February 21
1. A day at the salon for Becky, Katie, and yours truly. Nothing like a new hair cut to lift your spirits. So glad I’ve found a really great hairdresser and a great salon.
2. Starbucks after the haircuts – naturally. :-)
3. It’s Becky’s day out with mom. Nothing brings girls together like talking and shopping.
4. After a long day of shopping and chauffeuring I decided to just put leftovers on the table – we’ll have a bigger meal tomorrow when I have the energy to cook it.
5. Tomorrow will also be a day to stay in – cold and light snow. -
Friday Five #20

Friday, February 20
1. Oven repair guy is on vacation until March 2 – wtf???
2. Nothing like cheap Valentine’s candy when a good day goes bad.
3. Another family movie night – Nemo. Popcorn and Bugles were the snacks.
4. Reading Fifty Is The New 50. More on that another day – great stuff!
5. Meditation before bed tonight. -

1. Fired up the coffee grinder and french press for coffee this morning.
2. Listening to my 80’s cd collection in the car.
3. Having a snack of Frosted Flakes together with Maggie. And chatting too.
4. Starting to think about next year’s school plans.
5. Starting to think about selling books this year – we have a lot to sell.
