Beauty Update
March 16, 2018
It’s Friday and that means Friday Night Ritual including shopping my makeup stash for the next week. I’m not going to be doing a lot of shopping my stash today though because I’m kind of in a groove with my beauty items. Here’s what I’m doing.
I’ve been using a lot of samples and travel size of skincare since last year so I could see what works and what doesn’t and finally decide on a routine. Here’s the results: the French lines have been the best ones for my skin!
I had a 500 point reward Caudalie set last fall and I loved most everything in there except the foaming cleanser – that just wasn’t good for me. In January/February I used this fantastic Rose Hydration Set from Fresh and my skin loved it! I bought the Soy Cleanser to go with it and my skin revived. Well, I used that up and decided to go with Lancome because I’ve used some of their products before and thought I’d try them again. Guess what? They work well too! As you can see from the photo above, I also have a couple of sample items from Ole Henriksen namely their Nurture Moisturizing Creme and the Transformation Eye Creme. I’ve been using all these products exclusively for the last two weeks and, again, working quite well. I know what you’re thinking – all high end brands. Well, that’s true, but to me it’s worth it to splurge on the skincare so I have a good start for the few makeup items I use. And, a little goes a long way. That travel size Lancome cleanser is going to last a few months and it was only $15 so very comparable to drugstore brands. Now, on to the makeup!
I’ve been using my IT Cosmetics Illuminating CC Cream for awhile (I think since December) and it pairs well with the Lancome (no surprise – L’Oreal owns both brands). I am running out though so I’m going to need to decide on something new or stick with this. I plan on getting samples, again, to test before I buy. The other items are my Revlon creme shadow palette in the nudes, a basic brown/black mascara from Almay, this really nice eyebrow pen from Milani (very easy to work with), and my Fresh lip balm in Rose. There’s also the Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen SPF 50 for days I just don’t want to wear makeup. It’s a chemical sunscreen, but my skin tolerates it fairly well.
So, there you have it: an easy routine. I don’t have to make any decisions in the morning or at night. And no rosacea flare ups so far either. Yay! I’ll be posting my beauty fails next week so come back for that. Happy Friday!
Note: The Lancome items are: Creme Mousse Confort Cleanser, Tonique Doucer, and the Creme Exfoliance Confort.
