  • A Simple Way to Take Care

    November 1, 2011

To take care of yourself that is.  I received my Day 10 Christmas Countdown essay today and it was this wonderful recipe if you will of a few simple things you can do to take care of your body, mind, and spirit  so that you don’t crash and burn this holiday season.  I will go a step further to say that it is a great way for anyone, especially a busy mom, to take care of themselves EVERY day!  Here’s the recipe and it’s easy to remember:

    5-10-15 For Healthy Holidays

Take 5 servings of fruits and vegetables

Add 10 minutes of quiet time to reduce stress

Combine with 15 minutes of gentle aerobic exercise

And that’s it!  Ya know, I think I can do that.  Considering how last month I didn’t make any progress with my weight (I gained those 2 1/2 pounds I lost), I think I might make this my new thing to do for the rest of the year.  It’s easy and it’s what I need right now.  I especially like the stress relief in there.  With my household as chaotic as it is, that is one thing I cannot do without!  I’ll just add these things to my water and vitamin regimen and call it good.

Okay, so, I’m in – anyone else?  (P.S. Thank you Cynthia Ewer for such great advice!)

Hi! Just found your site and I love it!! I know it's been a while but if you Would, please, I would like to see your Richard Simmons cards individually and up close. My daughter is a mentally challenged adult who needs to lose quite a bit of weight and I think that this would be perfect for her. Thank you for your time, may the good Lord bless n keep you!

Hi Lisa! Thank you for the kind comments about my blog! I'd always hoped something would be helpful for others. Unfortunately, I got rid of that poster a while back, but I can tell you how to make it. Takes a little time, but easy overall. I know Richard Simmons made one out of construction paper to start so if that's all you have it will still work. :-) Please give me a day or two to find pictures and links that I used in the making of it and I'll get back to you. Have a great day and God bless.

About Me

Mom avatar

Hi - welcome to Oh Crap! and if you come back enough times you'll soon find out why I named my blog that.

I am an unperfect mom to 8 great kids: 5 boys and 3 girls (and I had them in that order too).

I have been married for either 40 really long or really short years depending on how my day is going.

Even though I have homeschooled my children for the last 31 years, I am certainly no supermom - unless you count the days I have to rescue my daughters from a moth in their room.

I love coffee, chocolate, and music from the 80's. I enjoy reading books, chick flicks, and thirtysomething.

So, that's me in a nutshell (and I'm probably more of a nut than you know). Thank you for visiting me on my blog!
