  • Makeup Haul!!

    January 2, 2011

Yes, I got to buy all new makeup today!   I was actually out of everything, so this was a rare experience indeed!  It all started when I learned of Maybelline’s new Fit Me line, so I decided to check it out.  It looked good, was inexpensive,  and Wal-Mart had some of it in so I went for it.  Here’s what I bought:

    1. Purity Made Simple cleanser by Philosophy: This is THE best cleanser ever because it does what it says it does – takes off every trace of makeup.

    2. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 120:  The color may actually be too dark, but we’ll see. I can always exchange it or wait until it’s gone and replace with 115.  I realized that I don’t need the lightest shade possible because it just washes me out.  I’m re-learning how to find the right shade.

    3. Maybelline Fit Me Powder: I don’t usually buy powder, but it could be nice to have.  Also in shade 120 – the colors all coordinate.

    4. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer 10:  I usually don’t buy concealer either, but it’s time.  It may help cover the rosacea and my under eye circles as well.

    5. Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Light Pink: This is a nice light pink that I think will do nicely.  They also have a Light Nude that I’d like to see if it would be good maybe for summertime.  Unfortunately Wal-Mart did not have this color in so will have to wait to see what the color looks like.

    6.  Cover Girl Professional Mascara in Brown: This is the best drugstore mascara ever in my book.  Not cakey or gloppy, just straight up darkening and maybe a little lengthening.

    7. Maybelline Eye Shadow Quad in Chic Naturals:  This is totally new – it has an eye shadow base, 2 shadows, and a liner – really cool!  The colors are very natural and you can use it in a myriad of ways.  It even has a diagram on the back of the package.

    8.  Essie Nail Color in Mademoiselle:  Wal-Mart had a huge display of Essie products and I couldn’t resist!  It has been forever since I wore nail polish and the pretty natural pink just drew me in what can I say?  I think the little girls will like it too :-).

The one thing I forgot was an eyebrow pencil – will have to go back for that.  I haven’t bought any eyebrow anything in a while so it may take some time to get the right product.  I’ll keep you posted.

So there you have it – my makeup haul.  Being a girl is SO much fun!!

  • Happy New Year!

    January 1, 2011

Well, I’m feeling pretty good today – although it could just be my hormone high before my hormone low :-).  I am thinking of my goals for this year – I don’t do resolutions – and I thought I’d share them with you.  I also bought a new planner that’s different than just a datebook for recording what you have to do, but I’ll talk more about that tomorrow.  I plan on spending some time with it at Starbucks to get started.  Anywho, on with my goals!

    1. Lose 60 lbs by the end of the year.  Yes, I really do have that much to lose and I’ve already lost 13 pounds since summer of 2010 so I’m on my way and don’t want to lose the momentum.  At the same time, I want to get into healthier habits and that will take time.

    2. Have a garage sale spring 2011.  I have a lot of homeschool books and things I want to sell as well as other stuff cluttering up the house.

    3. See my vocation of wife and mother as my job (because it really is) and make goals for it accordingly.

    4. Really put God first and this is hard because I’m not really sure how to do that.  I want to learn how to listen to Him and learn how my life can be with Him  at the forefront of every day.  My favorite “story” in the Gospels is that of Mary and Martha and when Jesus says, to Martha, “You are worried about many things, but only one thing is necessary”   and I keep thinking, “What IS the one thing?”.  Maybe it is this – to know, love, and serve God?  I love St. Martha and totally identify with her and pray for her help often – maybe I should ask her help on this because she obviously started doing that one thing in order that she could say, “I believe you are the Christ, the Son of God who has come into the world”.

That’s what I’ve thought of to start with and I think it’s a good list.  I’m sure it will be refined as the year goes on.

So, Happy New Year to all of you and may 2011 be a Year of Grace from Our Lord for ALL of us!

About Me

Mom avatar

Hi - welcome to Oh Crap! and if you come back enough times you'll soon find out why I named my blog that.

I am an unperfect mom to 8 great kids: 5 boys and 3 girls (and I had them in that order too).

I have been married for either 40 really long or really short years depending on how my day is going.

Even though I have homeschooled my children for the last 31 years, I am certainly no supermom - unless you count the days I have to rescue my daughters from a moth in their room.

I love coffee, chocolate, and music from the 80's. I enjoy reading books, chick flicks, and thirtysomething.

So, that's me in a nutshell (and I'm probably more of a nut than you know). Thank you for visiting me on my blog!
