All set for another Music Monday?? Me too! Let’s ROCK!!

Today’s music topic is Journey – the fantastic group from the 70’s and through the 80’s. I’m not sure I really heard much of them until the late 70’s and early 80’s when their popularity was at its height. I also think bands should stop touring when the original members are no longer altogether. Steve Perry’s voice made their sound what it was and I’m a purist in that sense – no one can replace him even if they do sound similar.  It’s just not the same.

I also liked a couple of Steve Perry’s songs when he went solo – “Oh Sherrie” and “Foolish Heart”.

I saw a Journey biography on tv once and they talked about how the song “Only the Young” was dedicated to a young boy who was dying from Cystic Fibrosis. Read the story here. Very moving.

These are my favorite Journey songs – in no particular order:

    1. Only the Young

    2.  Don’t Stop Believin’

    3.  Send Her My Love

    4. Girl Can’t Help It

    5. Be Good To Yourself

    6. I’ll Be All Right Without You

    7. Faithfully

    8. Wheel In The Sky

    9. Ask the Lonely

    10. Lights

    11. Separate Ways

Now I know some of you are thinkin’ – where is  “Open Arms” on that list??  Well, let’s just say it was way overplayed on the radio and I really don’t like it anymore.  Sad but true.  It’s okay, but not one of my favorites.

Okay, now it’s your turn – let me know your favorites, if you ever went to a Journey concert, etc.  Looking forward to hearing what you have to say!!

Don't Stop Belivin' would have to be my favorite. And, despite your best efforts raising me, I enjoy Any Way You Want It. Could be because both of those songs are on Rock Band 2.

Granted, most Journey songs are pretty epic. Except Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'. I can honestly say I just dislike that song.

Hey, I did just fine raising you - you listen to Journey don't you?? I absolutely agree about Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' - blah.

    Hey, Jude,

    don't make it bad...

Oh, wrong "na na na na" song

Um, yeah, dxprog - wrong song. But, then there's:

    na na na na

    na na na na

    hey, hey - goodbye

However, in the Journey song it sounds to me like a kid going "nyah, nyah, nyah - so there" kwim? Maybe it's just me - I dunno.

About Me

Mom avatar

Hi - welcome to Oh Crap! and if you come back enough times you'll soon find out why I named my blog that.

I am an unperfect mom to 8 great kids: 5 boys and 3 girls (and I had them in that order too).

I have been married for either 40 really long or really short years depending on how my day is going.

Even though I have homeschooled my children for the last 31 years, I am certainly no supermom - unless you count the days I have to rescue my daughters from a moth in their room.

I love coffee, chocolate, and music from the 80's. I enjoy reading books, chick flicks, and thirtysomething.

So, that's me in a nutshell (and I'm probably more of a nut than you know). Thank you for visiting me on my blog!
